Heleward enters the tavern with an air of uncertainty, a single gold eye looking over the many pupps gathered. He seemed information but he had no voice he could use to explain as such. Perhaps at some point, while he was here, he would manage to overhear something. For now, the ancient puppillar would head towards the bard, nodding his head to the farmers and giving them a kind smile as he passed. He would settle near the front of the crowd, gaze settled on the bard as he got lost in his thoughts. He pulls out his book of stories and spells, laying it open and flipping to one of the blank pages. Using a small pen that had been hooked to the spine, he begins to jot down some of the bard's lyrics, rolling nose to see if he recognizes the song.
The sound of music, talk, and laughter fills the tavern, and a few pupps crowd in near the bard by the fire, but there's plenty of room for Heleward to find nice seat...
Heleward rolls an 11 +5, for a 16, succeeding!
The lyrics to the bard's song are slightly different than the words Heleward is used to, but he is easily able to recognize the song's story. It's an old story about a fearsome multi-headed beast, whose strength strikes fear in any pupps near where they make their lair. The song is a cheerful one however, with the folly of the beast being that the multiple heads argue with each other, and are turned against each other by a brave hero.
Heleward jots down the new information into his book with a small smile, a few thoughts of his own jotted down alongside it. He closed the book quietly, setting his writing utensile down alongside it. He would wait until the bard was finished, opening his book once more and writing down "where did you learn that song?" on a blank page, before rolling tail to see if they could kindly motion the bard over and get them to read it.
The bard finishes their song, taking a deep bow in front of the crowd of gathered pupps...
Heleward rolls a 20 +0, for a total of 20, succeeding!
As the bard is bowing in front of the audience, they notice Heleward motioning them over, and excuse themselves, taking a seat next to Heleward. "Why hello there, I do hope you enjoyed the song," they say with a smile, before looking down at the question scrawled on the paper. "Oh, well let me see if I can recall...' they trail off a bit, mindlessly plucking out a short tune on their lute as they think.
"Oh, yes I recall now, I've been playing it for a while, but the song actually originated from a folk sold I first heard around these parts actually!" the bard chuckled a bit, "Funny that, isn't it?"
