"Ah, I see everyone has their character sheet filled out, excellent!" Alabaster says looking around the table with a smile. The table is arragened with pencils for everyone to use, dice, and everyone's snacks and drinks. In the center of a table is a flat map grid, with a few figurines off to the side. Everyone is excited, expectantly waiting the beginning of thier grand adventure, Alabaster is patient, waiting a moment while Pupps take sips of their drinks and settle down...

Chapter 1 - The Tavern

The town Tavern is busy with customers tonight, mainly local farmers and regulars, but also with adventurers such as yourself. In this region, there are tales that a fearsome beast guards a vast treasure, and many seem to think they'll be the ones to get it. Looking around, many Pupps gather around tables in small groups, and a few people crowd around a well dressed bard playing a song on his lute. You've finished the meal you shared with your companions, and are glad to relax a bit before setting out for your adventure in the morning. You've been able to work out many of the details on how to make your way to the beast's lair, an old crumbling castle in the deep woods, but perhaps there's someone around that can tell you some information you might have missed.

These scenes in the tavern lie before you:

  • There is a group of local farmers seated at the bar, discussing the local goings on
  • There is a group of rowdy Pupps playing some sort of dice game off in a corner
  • There's a small crowd listening to the Bard by the fire
  • The Tavern keeper is polishing a glass behind the bar
  • Your adventuring party is seated around a table with maps and such on the table, but are mostly just chit chatting at this point

What does your character do? They may talk to any of the above Pupps, or another Pupp not mentioned , or you may come up with something else entirely, within reason!

Gasha enters the tavern, bat on one of her hands, looking menancing. She looks at the different characters in there. She thinks about going to play dice with the pupps, but she knows she is a sore loser, and it may not be the time to fight yet. She still needed some informations before resorting to violence, violence would be the solution when she got her first no. She looked at the bartender, not the best idea to fight with the possible owner or employee of the stablishment. She looked at the bard, she was not interested in songs. She then saw the farmers and this group seemed the one she could intimidate.
"Hey, tell me everything you know about what is going on," she started, showing her teeth. "Or I will bite you. Better to spit everything out quickly."

Gasha would like to roll to intimidate the farmers, using her Teeth Stat, please!

Thank you!!

The farmers are a bit startled by Gasha's intimidating presence, one of them was mid-sentence and stops as soon as she starts talking.

Gasha rolls a 13 + 5 on her roll, for an 18, succeeding!

The farmers are quiet for a moment, but soon one of them nervously speaks up. "P-p... pardon me but we don't know much about the beast that you all have been after.. I reckon I never seen it, but Chet here has." He nudges another Puppillar, who nervously looks up as well.

"The beast don't leave its lair that often," Chet pipes up, "But I've seen it fly over the village before, it cast a huge shadow, but was hard to see up there since you were lookin up towards the sun"

Jasper smirked lightly to himself, sitting at the edge of the table in the massive group of pupp adventurers. This group seems pretty strong, but they don't deserve the treasure as much as I do! He thought. He knew some pupps that could use a few gold coins -- or even some Treats -- but he wondered what all he could do with the treasure too! I'll definitely donate a portion of my share to pupps in need, so they can escape any darkness in their lives -- but I should get a big share too for going on this adventure!

However, Jasper wasn't fully convinced that the group, as prepared as they were, had enough information. There were a few small groups still scattered throughout the tavern... perhaps one of them knew something else was up? The only problem was that he wasn't the most charismatic or wily pup, so he'd have to use some other tactics to get information...

Spotting the group of local farmers at the bar, Jasper surmised that they might know best the tales of a local beast (as fun as listening to a bard or playing a dice game would be). He carefully snuck over to a corner near them and began to listen in...

[Jasper would like to roll Nose for perception/investigation to overhear the farmer's conversation!]

The tavern is fairly loud, but then again, so are the farmers who are chatting away at the bar...

Jasper rolls an 18 + 3 for a 21, succeeding!!

He is able to find a cozy and casual looking spot to listen into the farmer's conversation. At first, the conversation is quite dull, they mainly are discussing the weather and some gossip in town, which might be slightly interesting, but isn't really that useful. Eventually, the conversation turns to something actually useful, with the farmers discussing the forest surrounding the village. "The huntsmen have been saying there's less and less small game in the forest lately, but the deer have stuck around. Mayhaps the beast doesn't have a taste for venison..."

Raine surveys the scene at the tavern, wondering where that last tidbit of information she needs about the Beast's Lair might be hiding. Surely the Lair has many riches, and she wouldn't want a greedier Pupp to arrive there before herself.
"Hm, I think I should check into an area others may not... would certainly give me an edge."
She considers perhaps the local farmers would be of aid, but overhears them more so speaking of the weather. Useful information for sure, but not exactly what she was hoping for. The rowdy crowd of Pupps in the corner seems a bit too loud for her liking as well. The adventuring party is a bit more hopeful, and the bard's song inviting, but she settles her gaze upon the old Tavern Keeper in the back.

Carefully padding her way through the crowd to the bar, she settles herself nicely on one of the stools closer to where the Keeper is polishing a piece of crystal stemware- Raine notices goblets galore, and more beyond that piece. He seems very busied.

Raine calls over to the Tavern Keeper politely, with a kind smile, and hopes that her hello will be warmly received as a way to enter into further conversation.

Raine would like to roll to have her greeting well received, hopefully leading to more fruitful conversation, using her Tail Stat!

As Raine notices, the Tavern Keeper is quite busy with all the dishes he has piled up...

Raine rolls a 3 +3 for a 6, failing!!

The bartender snorts, looking at Raine, "If you're lookin for information, I'll tell you what I told the last few adventurers, I'll be glad when all this nonsense is over, sure all you travelers have been paying for food and drinks here, but I appreciate the quiet in the village." He sighs a bit, despite his gruff demeanor, he lets up a bit, "Now, I won't hold it against you though miss, I can't say I know much about all this business, but I heard from some other adventurers that the old castle the beast has taken residence in doesn't have any obvious entrances, so maybe those old stone walls hold some secrets."

Raine is a bit embarrassed, faltering at the thought, but appreciates the Tavern Keeper still talking to her after her failed start to the conversation. Her mask falls a bit and her demeanor becomes a bit more sarcastic and relaxed in tone.

"Ah, I certainly do appreciate the tip. And I can't say I'm much for all the noise myself, I hope things return to normal soon for you all. Last thing anyone needs is a bunch of disruption, especially if they're making a mess..."

Raine startles, hearing a table flip at the other side of the Tavern. Her ears flatten, and the Tavern Keeper's face sours.
"See miss, that's exactly what I'm talking about." he says.
"I shouldn't keep your attention any longer it seems. I best be on my way...is there any way I could help though, before I leave? The least I could do for the information you gave me. Good turn deserves another and all that."
Raine at this point is playing with some of her tools in a back pocket, but certainly no one deserves a dagger to cut off a hanging wallet today. Still have to play nice out here in public, she thinks... even if some of these adventurers seem to have it coming.

She rolls again, using her Tail stat, to see if this can allow become a bit more friendly with the Tavern Keeper and if he'll accept her offer of aid.

(EDIT: I edited cause I goofed up the italics, nothing else changed ahaha)

Harley looks around the room and decides that the dice game looks the most exciting. They were never one to sit still for a performance anyway, and would be able to hear the music while they play. Harley takes a seat at the table, for a moment the others look at them, but soon enough they are all talking and laughing together. When Harley's turn comes up, they bounce a bit in their seat, excited, grabbing the dice, they toss them on the table, there's a few treats riding on this roll! Sadly, they roll pretty poorly, and their first reaction is to try and flip the table!!!

Harley would like to roll to flip the table, using their Teeth Stat!

The dice players start to laugh as Harley's dice roll goes poorly, coins clink on the table as the pupps all push around their winnings...

Harley rolls an 11 +5, for a 16, succeeding!

Harley is able to flip the heavy wooden table, causing coins to scatter and drinks to spill everywhere. Suddenly, the room quiets a bit, as everyone looks over at the chaos occurring at the table. There's a lot of barking and noise, but it gives Harley the chance to snag some treats from where they spilled on the ground.
