It had been a slow day so far at the small neighborhood cafe, some yawns even leaving Brambleberry's snout as xe worked. It was only a part-time job, but there sure were slow days where it felt odd to be getting paid for simply standing on their paws.
Even shifting weight to the other side didn't seem to spark entertainment at this point.
Only a few pups had come by to order a cup of coffee, or more commonly, a baked good. Coffee cakes, carrot cakes, scones, and so on. Though a little dry, a few pups did swear by them.
And the music had been on repeat for hours at that point, bouncing around in the speakers and droning on and on. There wasn't enough traffic in and out of those doors to make the place feel any more lively.
Not that Bramble was one to enjoy lively spaces, usually avoiding the customers was a delight. But today was warm and muggy too, a horrible combination.
Xe was rather tired of just sitting behind that counter at this point, glad to take their short lunch break. Just a simple brown paper bag with a sandwich and chips inside for lunch, the cafe's food wasn't all that good anyways.
Though some chitter chatter was overheard rather loudly outside.
Some local pups (or were they tourists?) seemed to be talking about the new fest in town; the one that brought in a bit more customers lately. Brambleberry tried to ignore the conversation as best they could, it wasn't xeir buisness afterall. But xe was never good at not being nosy.
Eventually xe overheard the fact a new band was needed for the last few days of the event. There weren't too many pups and cats still sticking around probably, so there wasn't as many to volunteer to play.
Hm.
Shoveling the last few crumbs of lunch into xeir muzzle, Bramble got back to work with a newfound energy.
It's not light there were many more customers after that, but the willingness to serve them was found suddenly. And with a nod from their boss, Bramble took the apron off and clocked out.
Shortly after coming home from work, it was about afternoon if xe could guess, there was nothing but a loud ruckus from xeir room. And all because of them too, but the pup didn't quite care.
There were shirts flying everywhere, old boxes getting shoved around, contents even getting rustled a bit too. Eventually xe found it though. An old bass guitar, fairly raggedy but it still worked. Plugging it in, it even sounded fairly good for being out of tune.
Perhaps the venue in question will take an ol' fixer upper at this point though, that's what xe figured at least.
So Bramble cleaned up the piece, tuned it, and got ready to go poke xeir nose into things before the festival closed for the night. Hopefully finding someone who was managing the music lineup at the place.
first time developing a personality for bramble !!
